The Three Little Pigs and the Great Pancake-Mud Party
Once upon a time, in a bright pink house that had a bouncy castle for a living room and a giant slide instead of front stairs, lived three very happy little pigs. Unlike those other stories you might have heard about wolves and blowing houses down, these pigs didn't have a single worry in the world. Their only goal in life was to figure out how to have the most fun possible before bedtime.
Meet the Trotter Trio
Waffles: The oldest pig. He wore a bib 24/7 because his favorite hobby was snacking. If it was edible, Waffles would eat it. If it wasn't edible, he would put sprinkles on it and then try to eat it.
Barnaby: The middle pig. He wore giant safety goggles and loved inventing things. Most of his inventions were wonderfully useless, like a machine that brushed your teeth with peanut butter.
Pip: The youngest and tiniest pig. Pip had way too much energy and communicated almost entirely by breakdancing.
The Tuesday Mud Emergency
It was a beautiful Tuesday afternoon, which meant only one thing in the pink bouncy house: The Weekly Mega Mud Bash!
Waffles had set up the snack table, and Pip was spinning on his head in excitement. But when Barnaby went out to the backyard to check the mud pit, he gasped. The sun had dried it up completely! It wasn't a mud pit at all; it was a dirt pit.
"Emergency!" squealed Barnaby, running back inside. "We have zero squish! I repeat, zero squish in the mud pit!"
Pip gasped and did a dramatic backflip of despair. Waffles dropped his half-eaten blueberry muffin. This was a disaster of epic proportions. You simply cannot have a Mega Mud Bash without mud.
Barnaby's Brilliant (and Messy) Idea
"Don't worry, brothers!" Barnaby announced, adjusting his goggles. "I have just the invention!"
He rolled out a giant, clunky machine made of old watering cans, a bicycle wheel, and a lot of duct tape.
"Behold! The Mud-O-Matic 3000!" Barnaby declared proudly. "We just add dirt, add water, and let it mix!"
They shoveled the dry dirt into the top. Barnaby attached the garden hose. But Waffles looked at the mixing bucket and frowned. "It doesn't look very... festive," he grunted. Before Barnaby could stop him, Waffles dumped two giant jugs of maple syrup, a box of pancake mix, and a jar of rainbow sprinkles into the machine.
"Waffles, no!" cried Barnaby.
But it was too late. Pip was so excited by the sprinkles that he did a joyful tap dance right onto the machine's giant red START button.
The Squishy Explosion
The machine rattled. It shook. It bounced off the floor.
Chugga-chugga-WHIRRRRR-SPLAT-SPLAT-SPLAT!
The Mud-O-Matic 3000 couldn't handle the sticky syrup. With a hilarious POP, the top blew off, launching a gigantic, glorious fountain of sweet, sticky, sprinkle-filled pancake-mud high into the air.
It rained down on the backyard. It covered the slide. It coated the bouncy castle. And most importantly, it covered the three little pigs from their snouts to their curly little tails.
Waffles licked some of the mud off his nose. His eyes widened. "Delicious!"
Pip tried to do a headspin, but the pancake-mud was so slippery that he ended up zooming across the yard like a little pink bowling ball, knocking Barnaby right into a giant, squishy puddle.
For a second, there was silence. Then, all three pigs burst into uncontrollable, snorting laughter. It wasn't the mud pit they had planned for, but sliding around in slippery, sprinkle-filled pancake batter was the most fun they had ever had. They spent the rest of the day slipping, sliding, snacking, and dancing until the sun went down.
